As human beings, we strive to improve ourselves in every aspect. We try to improve our education, social life and our bodies physically and overall improve our personality. A good personality can come in quite handy in daily life as it makes you more respectable among your peers and more approachable whether it’s in a work environment or a social gathering. To achieve all this can be quite a handful, that’s why I have compiled five simple habits that you can try everyday and improve your quality of life.

1. Smile

The importance of a smile cannot be overstated. Think of yourself walking into a room and one person looks at you and gives a simple smile. You will naturally gain a positive feeling and liking towards that person. Smiling has so many benefits to our bodies that include reducing the heart rate, relaxing our bodies hence reducing a risk of heart diseases, enabling the production of endorphins which are feel good hormones hence reducing stress and thus increasing attraction towards you. You don’t, however, have to walk with a big fake smile all over the street, a simple, genuine smile at the right moment will always work. In fact, people are more likely to smile back at you when you smile at them. So the next time you meet a new person, try giving a simple, genuine smile, and you never know what good you will have unlocked from the person.

2. Eat healthy

With the increasing concern in health and body fitness, having a healthy diet is very important. The good news is that you don’t need to replace suddenly your kitchen with vegetables and low-fat products. You can develop a habit day-by-day routine, substituting that soda for water, adding one more fruit in place of those biscuits or cookies. With time, you will discover that you are following an arguably healthy diet. Also, you get a stronger immunity. So the next time you want to get a snack challenges yourself to a banana or healthy sandwich.

3. Walk

A simple stroll around your neighbourhood as you go home from work or as you walk your dog can have surprisingly more benefits than you know. Walking is in itself a good exercise tool mainly for those starting an exercise routine before going to the gym. An hour walk can burn up to 200 calories, equivalent to a can of cola, while at the same time reducing a risk of stroke, heart disease and cancer. A walk around the block also gives you more chances of meeting new people and having a closer interaction with them, whether it’s your workmate, neighbour or even secure that date! It gives you a chance to know your surrounding better and relax your mind as you get a breath of fresh air. Think of how many things you have been able to think about more clearly while taking a walk than while cramped up in your sofa or desk. So the next time you get the chance, take a walk and save up on that fuel money for the car or just for the fun of it.

4. Planning

In the 21st century, it can be easy to get caught up in many demanding activities. You need to get to work or study, check on the progress of a business you just started, visit a sick relative and at the end of the day, attend a friend’s party and pick up on your new hobby. With an improper plan or schedule, it is almost impossible to complete all these tasks, leading to frustration, stress and eventually poor quality life. You, therefore, need to develop a good plan for your daily activities from morning to the end of the day, giving priority to the most important ones and the time at which they are to be carried out. In case they overlap, you can try to move some. To help do this you can write down a schedule on a book, phone, tablet or computer depending on the one you use most and you can also set reminders to avoid forgetting. Eventually, you will have a more organized day and life whether it is at work, school or family.

5. Pray

Despite your religion, it is always important and inspiring to connect to God. Saying a prayer every morning or evening always gives you strength and motivation to face the day and meet any challenges that may come. It may help you relive stress or tensions if you are facing any troubling situation knowing that there is a supreme being watching over you. Also, spiritual people are a bit more trusted and respected.

Conclusion

Adopting the five tip combo can push you towards a more transformed life and hopefully, a more successful life. It is important to note, however that adopting a more positive attitude can boost these tips and cumulatively giving you a better quality life.
