Then on Friday, it broke the record for the first full day without coal-power.<\/p>\n<p>Britain\u00a0reportedly hasn\u2019t existed a full day without coal power since the\u00a01882 opening of the Holborn Viaduct in London.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 16 coal plants left in the UK, all of which will be closed by 2025 in an effort to reduce pollution and harmful emissions.<\/p>\n<p>The historic day comes as a welcome follow-up to a report published in March stating that\u00a0the levels\u00a0of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere last year fell to the same amount as 1894 \u2013 the year that the\u00a0first petrol-powered car was patented.
