{"id":2483,"date":"2017-01-13T09:00:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-13T17:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.youwealthrevolution.com\/blog\/?p=2483"},"modified":"2018-02-12T07:20:24","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T15:20:24","slug":"start-saving-tress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.youwealthrevolution.com\/blog\/start-saving-tress\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Turns Plastic Waste into a Way to Save Trees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>McKinley Corbley from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodnewsnetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Good News Network<\/a> writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Kenyan man was tired of seeing trash continuously piling up on the beaches of his city \u2013 so he came up with an ingenious way to recycle plastic waste and save trees at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Aghan Oscar is the founder of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/coreclimited.weebly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Continental Renewable Energy<\/a> (COREC), a small recycling company based in Nairobi that collects garbage and turns it into road signage and poles.<\/p>\n<p>Timber used for fences and signage is often vandalized in the lower-income neighborhoods and used for firewood. It also deteriorates faster and contributes to receding forest land. Aghan\u2019s recipe for polythene products, made out of of post-consumer materials and sand,\u00a0are not only far more durable \u2013 they\u2019re much cheaper.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenya National Highways Authority has reportedly bought over 28,000 poles from Aghan\u2019s company, saving the government millions.\u00a0Vandals are notorious for stealing metal structures and selling them to steel manufacturing\u00a0companies, but COREC\u2019s plastic products\u00a0can\u2019t effectively be resold.<\/p>\n<p>As the\u00a0company grows, so do their need for able-bodied hands. COREC currently employs over 250 local Kenyan youth to gather plastic waste and work the assembly line. Aghan is a firm believer that supporting recycling companies can provide more young people with jobs, as well as save the planet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne kilogram of plastic waste saves 2.5kg of carbon emissions, and for every 10 plastic posts produced, one tree is saved.
